Pre-K Letters and Numbers App Reviews

It is only a free sample. Must pay to access all upper and lower case letters. Numbers only go up to ten, but kindergartners are expected to know numbers up to at least 20. For a child just learning to print, the program is much too demanding. The slightest error results in negative feed back. How about offering several skill levels of tracing? Also errors in tracing cause the program to crash. Yah-Trace is a better letter tracing program, but does not do numbers. Still looking for a good letter/number tracing program.

Love this app, had it for a while now. It was nice to see my 3 year old son enjoying "playing" the game whilst actually learning his letters. Best way I find is not to push them but rather use it as a treat ;-) I think the update has made the app much better for the youngest ones as it was a tad tricky before.

Free version contains 3 Letters and 3 numbers only, thats it! Letters must be perfect to count. Obviously made by someone without children. Poorly made. Dont bother with it.

Needs update to fix app from closing unexpectedly and to let children start off from where they start. My three year old has a difficult time with 8 because it crosses over so much and you have to hit every numbered dot or it makes you begin again. She gets frustrated with this. Otherwise, its a nice game. Contains uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and sounds of two letters combined (-ch, -er, etc.) Just really needs the update to fix the unexpected closing of the app.

I think there are better apps to teach children to trace numbers and letters. For example : intro to maths and intro to letters by montesorium is very good. This app is very basic.

This has been a great app for my kid to learn his ABCs and get used to writing. Thanks for the app!

This game constantly crashes. Especially, if your child foes outside of the line. Needs improvement.

After reviewing a number of learning games we decided to move forward with this app for our students. Our special needs students vary in level, with this in mind the reports allow us to review development and give measured updates back to parents. Thank you!

It offers that little more than the others out there, I particularly like the inclusion of blending allowing quick learners to advance much sooner. We downloaded pre-k abc during the summer and have seen a positive improvements to my youngest and would definitely recommend it to others.

I was perplexed how this app asked me to review it as soon as I started it for the first time. While this is a great concept idea, the program is too touchy and and can get pretty frustrating for a little one. I watched as my 4 year old son drew a three perfectly 5 times in a row and because he did not center his finger perfectly over the dot that you are to follow it kept telling him to try again. Another glitch in the program is if your childs hand or another finger accidentally touches the screen, it will make them start all over again, even if they were inline the entire time. I relate this to telling someone to write with a pencil, hold it only by the eraser. One other thing I would add is for some reason what I downloaded only had 123 ABC abc, no other numbers or letters. Im not sure if there is a version to buy or not but even if this is a preview I will not be buying. Two stars is for the concept behind the program. Program is also glitchy and would bump my child out often.

This is perfect for our teaching community, some of the letter sizes need taking care of but on the whole very good and just what we needed!

This app is a great way to teach kids the letters and numbers. I especially like the writing section.

My toddler loves this app. He likes tracing his letters on paper, now he can do it wherever we are. In tace, I think he likes it on the iPad in this app more!

My daughter got Dora Skywriter and it kept crashing and wasnt smooth. This app was super smooth, and she loves it! Thank you BrightStart for building a fun and cute game! Ditch Dora and go for this game!!!

My 5 year old has been using it for a while and really likes it. I can get feedback on her progress which is great. There is still room for improvement especially in the reporting part of the app. Highly recommended

My 2 year old loves this app!! Watching him go from not being able to stay in a straight line for the number 1 just yesterday to tonight being able to successfully trace numbers and letters is incredible!! He is so proud!! :)

This game has a great concept... But come on guys, it makes you reset if you barely go outside the lines. There is no way a three year old is going to have the patience for that. Decrease the difficulty and I wouldve given this a much better score. It is basically unplayable because of having to stay in the lines 100% of the time.

Gameplay, characters and sounds are all very good. Learning the alphabet and numbers are also good. However some of the fruits and vegetables are a little difficult for children (and parents) to know and understand. Overall a good all in one app for my daughter

My 4+ year old gave up. I tried it too and the interface is way to sensitive. No one will keep working to learn if the margin of error is so small. Happy I didnt pay for it. Removed from the iPad.
